Greetings Master. I am ML-1 YAMATO (Monster Legends MODEL 1). I am here to serve you. If you want me to come, say YAMATO. If you want me to kill, choose an attack. For more information, read my instruction manual.

Role: Attacker

Overview

ML-1 YAMATO, the only monster in ML to come with an instruction manual, is a OP+ monster because his design looks cool. That's the overview. In all seriousness, this guy is another example of Nebotus Syndrome: monsters that look cool but suck. It's easy to tell that even when it was released, it was marketed especially for beginners. It has some ET moves, allowing it to chain attacks, and its cooldowns are overall low. In addition, you can also use a 0 CD move to regen 40% of its stamina, meaning that you'll probably never have to recharge. However, there's a reason why it's in C tier. Firstly, its trait is disgusting. Magnetize Immunity? Really? For reference, Magnetize is just Metal Weakness under a different name, and $P hardly put it on any monsters after Cyberiel was released. Secondly, its stats are terrible even for Legendary standards, meaning that it's going to be a miracle if it can outspeed or survive long enough to actually do an attack in high leagues (and by "high leagues," we mean Silver II and up.) Its Power and boring movepool result in it not being able to do much as well. ML-1 YAMATO also only relies on pure damage (outside of a very weak Burn move,) meaning that it's basically doomed against Tanks with high health. His main ET move has a 4-TURN cooldown, and its relic slots are terrible. Overall, ML- YAMATO truly deserved better, and can't be used at all in high-level PvP. However, beginners can use him pretty well until they find better attackers, like the monthly YouTuber monsters.

Pros:

  • Has access to ETs
  • Can regenerate Stamina
  • Generally low cooldowns

Cons:

  • Pathetic trait
  • Outdated stats
  • Boring movepool
  • No AoE status effects
  • Only has Burn as a torture, meaning that he mainly relies on raw damage
  • Weak against Anticipation
  • Vulnerable to denial and Tortures due to his trait
  • SH-40ET has a terrible 4 CD!
  • Relic slots are completely useless for an Attacker

Recommended Moveset

wait why is he in the evil legions again

  • SH-40ET (Self 40% Shield + Extra Turn, 38s, 4 CD)
  • MS-45ST (45 Special dmg + Self 40% Stamina Restore, 30s, 0 CD)
  • SW-45M (45 Special dmg + Metal Weakness, 29s, 0 CD)
  • MS-60 / MS-35A (60 Metal dmg, 30s, 1 CD) / (AoE 35 Metal dmg, 32s, 3 CD)

Recommended Runes: 2 Strength, 1 Team Speed

Recommended Relics: Tayni's Amulet, Sherezar's Amulet, Supercharged Amulet; Jasastur's Mask, Baltasar's Mask, Talany's Mask

While the moveset overall is pretty bland, it can work for beginners. Start with SH-40ET to give yourself a 40% Shield and an Extra Turn. After that, you can use SW-45M to apply Metal Weakness. The next turn, you can either use MS-60 on the Metal Weakness enemy to deal 90 damage, or use your AoE move. Finally, MS-45ST is for boosting up your stamina if it ever runs low. However, this moveset quickly runs into many issues in higher leagues, due to ML-1 YAMATO's outdated stats, Anticipation being everywhere, and deniers being able to wreck havoc.

Recommended Allies

  • ML-1 YAMATO's main goal is to apply Metal Weakness and then dish out damage. To achieve that, try using an ally that can apply an AoE Metal Weakness to all enemies to deal more damage. Arcade has an AoE Metal Weakness move that can work with ML-1 YAMATO, while also being another beginner monster. However, don't expect much out of ML-1, as he's a C tier monster for a reason.
  • ML-1 YAMATO in addition is very squishy due to his outdated stats, so use tanks to absorb damage. If it has access to Mega Taunt, even better. If not, try using monsters like Ouros that can absorb single-target damage due to their access to Taunt. However, beware of AoE moves. Despite their on-average lower power compared to single-target moves, an AoE 40 is more than enough to OHKO ML-1 and make him unable to battle.

Counters

  • Any good Magic attacker that is faster than ML-1 YAMATO should be able to defeat it. An example is Wasper.
  • In fact, any Attacker can work to kill this Bionicle ripoff, due to his terrible Life. Examples of such are Urtikus(who also has Anticipation) and Warmaster Elvira
  • Its terrible trait allows any Denier to stop him in his tracks. You could also stack Tortures onto him to make him die a slow and painful death.
  • Any somewhat strong Anticipator can turn him into scrap metal if it uses his ETs.
